the celebration of the paperback publication of This Messy Magnificent Life.
I was in conversation with Janis Cooke Newman, who started by asking me to read The Blue Vest, which is probably my favorite piece from the book. It’s about aging and beauty, about wonder and what lasts. The questions were heartfelt and poignant. We laughed, some cried. I read a few lines from When Death Comes by Mary Oliver, who died today. Mostly it was good to be together.
The evening felt like warm golden honey. Such joy. Lucky to be alive.
